Mick Brown – EPK – Old

Updated 6: Mick Brown is a folksinger, Songwriter and Community Music Facilitator based in Galway City. Mick’s songs are rooted in the fabric of his life which embraces community and are grounded in the traditional and folk style of the west of Ireland. Mick’s previous song releases, Somewhere Further down the Line (Nov 2022) and Huckleberry Finn and Me Line (Aug ’23), and most recent release of Song for Brigid (Feb ’24) have received widespread radio play including: Galway Bay Fm, Raidio na Gaeltacht, Midwest Radio, Clare Fm, Shannonside/Northern Sound Radio, Highland Radio, Radio Kerry, Cork C103 and Global Irish Radio. With influences including John Spillane, Christy Moore, Liam Clancy and Bob Dylan, it is easy to be drawn to Mick’s music. Mick’s debut  EP, Remember how we Dreamed will be released on April 4th.

Mick’s songs have been featured on RTE TV & Radio, TG4, Galway Bay FM, Kinvara Fm, Flirt FM. The themes of his songs emphasise community, generosity, peace, love and nature. Since the first lockdown in March 2020, Mick has been busy writing new material, developing his home studio recording & video making skills while working remotely with Songcraft songwriting studio in Garrafrauns, County Galway. He has released 4 new songs & videos in the process.

Mick played the song to 40,000 at Pearse Stadium in 2017 at the homecoming party for the victorious Galway hurlers and at the Galway City Business Association’s Hurling Final event, Eyre Square 2018, see more: here
  • Eleanor Shanley (ex-De Dannan) sang Mick’s song ‘The Gift of Life’ at an event in Circle of life Garden, Salthill, Galway in Oct 2017. This was part of an organ donor awareness raising event organised by Galway based charity ‘Strange Boat Foundation’. Similar events were run across 5 continents in tandem with this event. Parts of the event & performance featured on on RTE, TV3 & TG4 tv and on the main Irish Radio stations, see more: here
  • Performance live on Kinvara FM Community Radio as part of Crinniú na mbád festival 2018, see more: here
  • December 2020 – Released Christmas song for Children, ‘Who feeds the Reindeer’. This song was commissioned by Innov8 Creative Academy as part of the launch of their new Christmas toy & had an animated video with the song.
  • Regular online performances for Sccul Sanctuary, Clarenbridge, Galway during lockdown. SCCUL Sanctuary is a therapeutic retreat space whose aim is to improve the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual well-being of people.
