Mick Brown is a Community Music Facilitator, folksinger and Songwriter based in Galway City whose songs have been featured on RTE TV & Radio, TG4, Galway Bay FM, Kinvara Fm, Flirt FM and Social Media. The themes of his songs emphasise community, generosity, peace, love and nature. Mick recently toured with Breaking the 4th Wall Theatre group, performing his own original songs in Galway Town Hall Theatre, Westport Town Hall Theatre, Mullingar Arts Centre, Carrabane Village Theatre and The Ocean Sands Hotel, Enniscrone.

Mick plays solo gigs, his main instruments being guitar, banjo and harmonica. He regularly performs with a whistle/flute/bodhran player accompanying him. He also collaborates and performs with other Musicians for bigger shows. He is currently working with various musicians recording a CD of his own original songs which will be released in April/May 2020. He plays guitar, banjo and harmonica and facilitates Community music groups for various community organisations throughout Galway City & County including: Sccul Sanctuary; Galway & Clare Family Carers Organisations; Galway Parkinsons group; MS Society of Ireland; Galway Alzeimers group.

Mick Performed at the Sccul Sanctuary Galway Choirfactor concerts in 2017, 2018 & 2019. He performed his song ‘Gaillimh Abú’ at a street party organised by businesses in Galway’s Latin Quarter and subsequently to 40,000 people at the homecoming of the victorious Galway Hurling team in Pearse Stadium Galway in 2017.

Mick performed with his band to 5000 people in Eyre Square, Galway in Aug 2018 for a gig organised by Galway City Business Association. He played at Seafest when it was held in Galway in 2017. His YouTube Channel has over 29,000 views.

Mick has performed his songs and been interviewed on Galway Bay Fm, Kinvara Fm and Flirt FM. He has played several times on Galway Bay FM arts show and performed live for their 2017 Arts festival radio show.  Eleanor Shanley (ex-De Dannan) performed his song “The Gift of Life” at an event in the Circle of Life garden in Salthill, Galway in Nov 2017. This event was run by ‘Strange Boat Foundation’ and was part of a world wide series of events to commemorate Organ Donors and Recipients, to mark the 50th anniversary of the world’s first heart transplant.

Mick wrote a song called “The Sanctuary” for the SCUUL Sanctuary Community organisation in Clarenbridge.  This song was performed at the SCCUL Sanctuary Choir factor concert in the Radisson Hotel, Galway in 2017 accompanied by a full band and community choir.  Mick organised & played with other musicians to perform a special musical arrangement for a literary event run by Sccul Sanctuary in 2017.

Mick organised, promoted and performed a gig at the Galway Folk club entitled “Songs from the West” and invited other West of Ireland songwriters to join me for this special night. This gig was part of the Galway Fringe festival.
