MUSIC BIO
Mick Brown is a folksinger, Songwriter and Community Music Facilitator based in Galway City. Mick’s songs are rooted and grounded in the traditional and folk style of the west of Ireland. With influences from such iconic folk legends as John Spillane, Christy Moore and Liam Clancy, it is easy to be drawn to Mick’s music.
Mick released his long anticipated debut EP, Remember how we dreamed in 2024. A collection of five original folk songs that remind us of the ephemeral nature of life, and how important it is to make time to share special moments with our loved ones. An authentic journey in song where companionship, solitude and community are explored through the prism of hope.
“Deserved EP of the week, really, really good songs he’s put together. Well recorded in Songcraft Studios, mastered by the fabulous Richard Dowling. He’s done it all right, he’s recorded good songs and produced them to top quality. This is a lovely EP”, David Dee Moore, Folk Friday Radio.
“This CD is a beautiful piece of work, there’s 5 beautiful songs on it. The stories in the songs are wonderful”, Don Stiffe, Songwriter.
“A collection of folk songs which are a tender exploration of life, love and loss, which is sure to resonate deeply with listeners” Connacht Tribune (March 2024)
The collection of original songs was launched by Don Stiffe to a packed audience in Charlie Byrnes bookshop, Galway. The EP was very well received, achieving radio play on various radio stations throughout Ireland and beyond. Featured EP of the week on both The David Dee Moore Show (Folk Friday Radio) and Shannonside/Northern Sound Radio (Powerplay Homegrown – Mike Mulvihill).

The themes of Mick’s songs emphasise community, generosity, peace and nature. During live shows Mick likes to engage the audience with good humorous banter about his travels up and down the byroads of life. Songs are embellished with tales of the inspiration for his original folk songs. Audience members are invited to participate on a journey through song.

Mick has opened the show various artists including John Spillane, Padraig Jack and P.J. Murrihy. Currently he hosts a regular gig every Friday in The Western Hotel Galway, inviting various first class guest musicians to join him each week.
Upcoming shows this summer include a gig in the Mick Lally Theatre, Galway, as part of an event celebrating National Heritage week. A headline performance (with band) is scheduled for the Scene on the Green Festival, Kenmare, County Kerry.
